QEP First-Year Course Initiative
Foundations for Learning - GSD 101 - 3 credit hours

The pilot course Foundations For Learning (GSD 101) was approved by the EKU Council of Academic Affairs as an additional Academic Orientation option for entering first-year students. GSD 101 was developed as one of the major university-wide program initiatives of the recently approved EKU Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). The intent of the course is to provide foundational knowledge and skills in critical and creative thinking and to increase student success and retention.

A broad representation of faculty and professional staff members of the EKU community were involved in shaping the course elements for the Fall 2008 and Fall 2009 implementations. Additional instructors are currently being sought to join the Foundations for Learning Instructor Learning Community that will further develop and teach the course in Fall 2010.
