In addition to the campus-wide integration of student learning objectives that address critical and/or creative thinking, there are specific program initiatives that address the current Quality Enhancement theme: to develop informed, critical and creative thinkers who communicate effectively.

There are six university-wide programs that address the theme:

• A New First Year Course: Foundations for Learning (GSD 101)
• Thinking and Communicating Across the Curriculum (TCAC)
• The Service-Learning Project
• The Noel Studio for Academic Creativity
• CMS Faculty Development Program
• Teacher Education Diversity Critical Thinking Project

There are two individual, unit-specific projects that address the theme:

• The CACTUS Project (Citizens' Assembly for Critical Thinking about the United States)
• The Science and the Liberal Arts Project: Promotion of Critical Thinking with a Thematic Interdisciplinary Focus
